I'm really glad I bought these. The wide calf is mostly leather but there are stretchy inserts in the back of the shaft which give these a nice snug fit. The ankles are nicely tapered so that there's no bunched up leather there. The heels are not too high or too narrow so you have a stable platform to stand on. They are very comfortable and I wear them all day...plus they are waterproof.

This boot is by far the one to get for large calves! I naturally got half a size bigger having this issue, and it wasn't a bad decision as I can wear thicker socks and the foot part doesn't feel too big. To my surprise the calf part actually zipped up easily with room to spare at the the top. I have a 161/2 calf. Also, the ankle doesn't look too small in relation to the rest of your leg. The boots are plain in design but a good buy for leather. I would buy them again.

The shaft of these boots is wide enough to tuck in pants and they have elastic in the shaft so they can stretch. The down side to this is that if you have average-sized calves and wear leggings or tights, then they are a little lose. I am very happy with these boots in general as it is difficult for me to find something comfortable enough to walk around all day in the city. they label says they are waterproof, but I have not tested them out yet in wet conditions--but if they really are, it makes this pair of boots all the more perfect. My feet are a little on the wide side, and I ordered the wide which really made a perfect fit for me.

Although the boot is a great eye catcher, I was so disappointed when I received it because it was not true to size. I am a size 7 and when I tried it on it was huge! I would say a size and a half or more larger! Now I have to send it back. Too bad, would have loved this boot!
