I bought these shoes for my son; he goes to a private school, and their shorts uniform requires white sneakers. He is not old enough yet to tie his shoes, that is why I wanted the velcro straps. Overall, they are really good shoes. Look like they will last awhile; they are about a half size smaller than other shoes the same size, but I knew that from the reviews I read prior to purchasing.
