Product Description (Women's Vasque Sundowner Classic GTX)
This mid-weight backpacker has a reputation for comfort and old-school style, which may explain why it's as common at the grocery store as on the trail.
It's also equally at home under the weight of a pack or on a casual day hike.
Shaft Height: 4 1/4" (size 7M)
Fit: This style tends to run large. For an accurate fit we recommend purchasing a 1/2 size smaller than you typically purchase. For example, if you normally purchase a size 7 1/2, we recommend purchasing a size 7.
Features of this item include: Vibram, Hiking, GTX, Outdoor, Gore-Tex

Comfortable January 17, 2013

I love these boots. I ordered my 2nd pair a year ago. I bought my first boots four years ago. I hike every weekend (close to the mountains). I wear these boots year around. They are not too hot in the summer. Waterproof for the spring, winter, and fall. There is not a break in period. The boots are so comfortable the first time you put them on and thereafter. They are 1/2 size too large even if you wear thick socks. I highly recommend these boots.

Not the same boot... December 27, 2012
Reviewer: Disappointed from Chicago

My partner has a pair of the Italian-made Sundowners, probably ten years old at this point or more, and they've held up over time and still look great. I read the reviews cautioning that the quality was not the same but thought I'd try ordering anyway (I'd always wanted a pair...). They showed up, I compared them to the old boots and put them right back in the box. Not the same at all. Stitching and leather is inferior, the workmanship is not the same, and the tongue construction is totally different. The deal-breaker was the unpadded eyelet at the top of the boot just riveted through the boot. The original was lined and padded behind the top eyelet, and I see why the new version gave other reviewers ankle blisters who actually tried to hike in this cheap knock-off. I'm not chancing it- anyone have recommendations on a similar boot that's not made in China, is good-looking, water-resistant, and can stand up to farm and trail abuse? What a shame, I really wanted to like these!

Vasque Sundowner March 05, 2012

This pair of Vasque's were a replacement for 20 year old Sundowner's. Boot design remains very similar and the new boots are of great quality. Really very pleased with the purchase. On a side note, if break in time is an indication of quality, then these boots are awesome in quality, as it has taken several weeks of use to get them partially broken in.

Great Boots February 09, 2012

These are my second pair. They don't need to be broken in. They fit perfectly. I wear them hiking fall, winter and spring. They are waterproof! I would highly recommend these boots just buy them 1/2 size smaller. I hope Vasque keeps making them. I'll cry if they quit.
