I rated this shoe a 1/2-size larger than marked but that may actually be due to the fact that these shoes are made in Euro sizes and the conversion to Am sizes is approximate. None the less, we ordered a size 4 for my nearly 12-mo old son and they are too big for him now - I suspect he'll be closer to 15-mo when they will fit. Since my son hasn't worn this shoe (except for trying on) I will review the quality from the standpoint of looking at a new shoe. The shoe is made of a thick leather but looks breathable (plus, by nature of it being a sandal it is breathable). The footbed provides about a 1/8-inch of cushioning and the material is soft against the foot. The sole is flexible. The sides of the shoe come up a little high around the ankle (for my preference). It isn't as high as other new-walker shoes but I do wonder if it will cause chafing/rubbing on my son's ankle. Still, I like the shoe. As such, we do not have plans to return it and I look forward to when my son will be able to wear it.
