Wears this shoe: for hiking on mountain trails
remarkably comfortable hiking shoes
By Alexia, from Lexington, VA | October 03, 2012
These shoes immediately felt very different and much better than other hiking shoes I've tried on. They seemed to hug the foot and yet provide plenty of room for the toes. I have narrow, blister-prone feet, narrower in the heel. At the suggestion of a shoe salesperson (who carried Treksta but didn't have my size), I decided to try these. Now I've had a chance to wear them on the trail, and so far they've been remarkably comfortable right from the start (resulting in a very slight blister-tendency, nothing like what I usually experience). I'd certainly recommend these shoes to narrow-footed folks like me, and I suspect they would adjust to wider feet as well, by way of the good lacing arrangement.I tried two sizes, 8 and 8.5, and ended up keeping the 8.5s. I'm not sure that was the right choice. In a hiking shoe, it's hard to tell whether the toe room is adequate for downhill hiking until you get out on the trail. The unusual shape & fit of these made this guess a little trickier. The foot-shaped interior of the smaller size might have been a bit more comfortable. Ideally, you'd be able to give these a good try on a downhill slope before settling on the size.

Nice and lightweight
By DDarlene, from Port Angeles, WA | August 17, 2012
Bought these shoes because I am having some ankle support problems and was tired of putting on an ankle sleeve with my low trail shoes for local hikes. I've had these exceptionally lightweight, women's Gore-tex TrexSta Evolution Mid GTX light weight trail walking/hiking shoes a month and have completed several day hikes. My thoughts are: Wow, these are light, boy they fit good and feel comfortable on my feet. I wear 9-1/2 medium and on occasion have to buy a 10 in other shoes. These 9-1/2 mediums fit me perfectly and I found practically no break-in period required. They are slightly odd looking when you first put them on because they curve out on one side to accomodate your little toes and let them wiggle too! I think thats because they are engineered so well. Even with my medium weight hiking socks I can spread my toes. I am so happy I bought this brand and will definitely buy them again.

Loved this hiking shoe from the minute I put them on, with the exception of the leather piece stitched onto the heel. It bites and needs extra protection on the inside of the shoe. I tried band-aids, but you really need to put heel guards inside the shoe. Otherwise, great support in arch and for also for your ankle. Very lightweight compared to other hiking shoes. Overall quality of manufacturing is excellent.

Good shoe, but heel problem.
By Cindy, from Allentown, PA | December 08, 2011
The foot of the boot was extremely comfortable. It looks like it could last forever and go through anything. The only problem is at the heel of the boot. Two different materials meet at the upper heel and a zigzag stitch runs up the back of the boot. I put a heel pad in and am hoping this takes care of the problem.

No break-in required and super light
By Beeze, from Pittsburgh | November 29, 2011
Ordered these for daughter and me based on Backpacker magazine award and reviews of others- they were supportive and quite comfortable out of the box for both of us. One reason I chose these is the traction technology the shoe uses. It was good on slick rock, snow, mud- and most of the time on crumbly stone and icy patches. Totally positive experience.

My favorite hiking boots!
By Melanie, from Alabama | June 16, 2011
The first time I put this boot on & wore it around the house, I was in love! I have very high arches & usually don't get the support I need out of any other shoe. The Trekstas provide support everywhere that I need it, especially in my arches. I wore these on a 3 day backpacking trip & on the second day, I noticed that my arches were sore. Since my feet were not used to having arch support, the boots made them sore after that first use. But now that I'm used to it, the soreness is gone. These boots are light & very comfortable. We hiked down some steep slopes & not once did I get "toe bang". They're made to fit snug on your foot.....almost as if they were molded around your foot. They're also very breathable. My feet did not feel hot at all, which is unusual when you're hiking in Southern TN in late May. I highly recommend these boots & can't wait for the store to get more in the men's sizes so that I can buy my husband a pair!
