Wears this shoe: day hikes but not heavy loads
Great day hiker or overnighter

Bought this boot to ease the wear on my backpacking boots. Can handle 25 lb backpack and support ankles. Good grip but sort of a flat sole. Nice and light but don't step on too many pointed rocks. Feel a little more vulnerable than true backpacking boots. You will feel them at the end of the day. Very nice boot to get around in for a couple of days. Would recommend them for day hikes or light activity multiple days.

I normally wear a 11.5 EEE, I took a chance and ordered these in size 12. I suffer from Plantar Fasciitis and after wearing the TrekSta for a week I am cured. I just wish they came in syles that I could wear to work. I will be using TrekSta's for all my activities that don't require me to dress up.

Comfortable & Waterproof

I like the way these shoes feel. The fact that they have a modest arch support is a plus compared to the mid-height shoes that I have been buying from a camping supplier.I have not tried crossing a stream with these shoes, but I walk through a field every day, get soaked from the dew or a recent rain and the shoes keep my feet dry.I also like the fact that the lace loops are made from a (strong) fabric. I think that this setup, polyester against movable polyester, will make the laces last significantly longer.

Great width, ankle support, weight
By DLee, from Provo, Utah | June 27, 2012
After two days of hiking in high western mountains, I'm pleased with the Treksta Evolution Mid GTX. The shoes are rather light (I'm used to a 3-lb pair of GTX Vasques) yet provided ample ankle support for my frame (175 lbs), pack weight (25-30 lbs) and distance (5+ miles). The traction was good, though perhaps a little too flexible. What I liked most was the ample footbed. Very comfortable with two different sets of merino wool socks. Unlike some complaints about the GTX, I had no problems with moisture getting into the shoes. They weren't tested too hard, but I went through streams, puddles, and the edge of a lake to test.

I backpack 50-75 miles and I began having metetarsal foot pain. I purchased these and just finished a 55 mile trip. Very little pain.

The top lace hook placement is in the perfect location to apply annoying pressure to your ankle joint. I like the mid height boot versus a shoe but if I had to do it over I would have gone for the shoe to avoid this issue. The rest of the hiker is great, really comfortable and extremely light. The seam on the liner at the heel up the achilles uses a really broad stitch and is a bit abrasive on the heel unless wearing hiking socks. If the seam at the heel was imperceptible and the top lace hook didn't push against my ankle I would have rated it a 5. I have yet to try them on ice this winter where they are supposed to excel.
