Trail running shoes are running shoes designed for off-road routes or trails. Trail running shoes are designed to offer runners added traction and stability on uneven grounds or wet terrain. Additional features found on some trail running styles are water resistant uppers and special tongue construction to help keep out debris.

Patagonia Tsali 2.0 A note to Patagonia: DO NOT CHANGE THESE SHOES.

First a note to Patagonia: DO NOT CHANGE THESE SHOES. I?ve put about 100 miles on these since I got them two weeks ago including 20 miles today on the trails in the rain at South Mountain in Phoenix (yes rain and on the 4th of July, excellent running). A couple of things before commenting on the shoes; I?m 6?2 and 195 pds with size 15 feet and run ultras (not a front of pack guy but usually in the top third). I?ve been a BrooksCascadia diehard all the way up to the Cascadia 6 when they ruined a perfectly good shoe by narrowing the toe box and I?m positive they actually shortened the length of the shoe. I got my first blisters on my last 50 miler and have been trying to find an alternative ever since. With size 15 feet, choices are extremely limited. I?ve gone through Montrails, New Balance and Asics, putting 50 miles on each before giving up. Then I came across the Patagonia Tsali 2.0. Took some adjustment to get used to them, but there are no seams to rub your little toes raw and plenty of room for the feet to swell on the long runs. Traction feels about the same as the Cascadia 6?s and the Tsali doesn?t feel as clunky. Only downside is marginal ventilation to where I really was feeling the heat on my feet when I was running last weekend when it was 108. So Patagonia, please do not take a chance and go to a 3.0, because I have a closet with two pair of new Cascadia 6 still in their box and I don?t want to make the same mistake. I?m stocking up just in case.
