I bought this shoe for a recent trip to Alaska, and did not have an opportunity to break it in before the trip. The first time I put the shoes on, they felt great -- no break in was required. They were so comfortable, I ended up wearing them every day, even though I brought another back up pair. I'd recommend this shoe to anyone looking for a comfortable and durable pair of hiking shoes.
