I found these boots quite comfortable from the beginning. I walk a mile to and from the commuter rail station, and walking in these boots presents no problem at all.

I'm flat-footed and this shoe is incredibly comfortable. The tongue hits the foot at a good spot and the sole provides good support. I've trekked through water with no problem.
