A tough and durable boot for technical backcountry adventures; the Four Shadows GTX chomps into ice and snow with each step thanks to TNF Winter Grip™ and Ice Pick™ technology. Designed with a waterproof, breathable Gore-Tex® membrane, these resilient boots offer superior protection for cold-weather activities.
Features include Heal Cradle™ technology encompassing a dual-density EVA midsole with an injection-molded EVA X 2™ heel insert, Gore-Tex® waterproof, breathable membrane, 400 g PrimaLoft® Eco recycled insulation, AgION™ antimicrobial dual-density footbed, Bomber abrasion-resistant mesh, and Dri-Lex® fleece lining in collar and tongue.
Also features a durable TNF Winter Grip™ rubber outsole, Full-length, injection-molded TPU shank for optimal support and stability, a Gusseted tongue, Ice Pick™ temperature sensitive outsole lugs for increased traction and a synthetic nubuck upper.

I work in prudhoe bay Alaska and it regularly reaches negative forty degrees. With these layering and wick dry socks, I have found that my feet stay warm in any weather. When these wear out I will surly buy North Face socks again.

Great boot for wintertime activities

I bought this boot with the intention of using it for outdoor winter activities such as sledding, snowmobiling, shoveling the driveway and having fun in the snow with my children. Boot is lighter, warmer and more comfortable than other winter boots that I've worn and the Gore-tex is a must if you plan to be active. I consistently wear a size 11 1/2 in all my shoes and sneakers and found this boot required me to purchase a size 12. You'll need the extra 1/2 size if you plan to wear heavier socks.

Although I have not had a lot of opportunity to wear this boot yet, I like it overall. It is very light and well insulated. I also like the styling. It does have a very tall upper that is very stiff. Right now it is like wearing a ski boot, and I am curious if it will loosen up any with time and wear.
