I love the looks of this bag. However, I found it very stiff and difficult to get things out of it. I do not use it for every day because of this but it is a striking bag and I use for specific occasions. I get many compliments on it.

I wanted a straw bag for the casual, breezy, beachy look this summer. I'm used to compartmented leather bags, even in summer, and I'm finding it hard to adapt. The open top has allowed things to spill out once, and the open weave without lining allowed a wide-toothed comb to protrude. I expected the straw to be stiffer, not so floppy, because the bag is shown looking as though it's standing upright, which it certainly is not. My floppy straw hats are stiffer. I've seen stiff straw bags, so considering the picture, my expectations were justified. I may end up devising a clasp for the top and installing some pockets along the sides for things I have trouble finding in the bottom of the bag (keys, phone, glasses...) or just saving this for the beach. For now I'm using a large clasp from a hardware store to hold the top semi-closed. It's still a pretty bag.
