| | | Stamps are instruments designed to produce an imprint on something. Stamps consist of a rubber cutout mold mounted on a holding block. This holding block is traditionally made from wood but other materials such as plastic are often used. The rubber cutout molds, or stamps, are made in the shape of an image, a sign or words. The stamps are then pressed against an absorbent material saturated with ink to produce the imprint. Stamps are commonly used in arts and craft projects or for identification. |
