classic light deck shoe/sneaker
By Jim, from Denver, CO | August 13, 2012
Not for those looking for the typical tightly-bound tennis or running shoes, which provide, or seem to provide, a lot of support. They're fabric and they breath, unlike typical training and tennis shoes. These are light and fairly minimalist, but I use them in the gym while lifting weights and on the cycle. Also comfortable for knocking around. I'd estimate the sole will last a year with typical light to light-moderate use in a gym setting and occasional walking in town.

A Product of Provenance
By Steven K, from North Attleboro, Massachusetts | December 21, 2011
Bought my first pair of Sperry Top Siders from Shoebuy several years back. I knew of them from years past (I'm 71), but these were my first. I soon discovered that their "sailing provenance" was even known by someone in rural Manitoba, Canada! They give a sense of "class" when casually dressed, and are very versatile. I find that that they are also quite comfortable when I replace their inner soles with my custom arch support ones. (I have flat feet). I recently purchased 2 new pairs, when narrow widths again became available.

Great tennis shoe for a wide foot, looks great too
By 1sailsman, from Ann Arbor, MI | December 21, 2011
Had a regular width same shoe and it always felt too tight/short. Purchased a wide model and it feels very good and very comfortable. Added a Dr. Scholl's gel foot pad and WOW now that's really comfortable

Improper fit
By Peter, from Brookline, MA | September 16, 2010
The shoe was too narrow and therefore uncomfortable to wear. I tried wearing them once for a day, and my feet were killing me afterwords. My only alternative now will be to try and wear them for short intervals of time in hopes that I might be able to "break them in".

Only Canvas Shoe in Wide
By XITMGR, from Albuquerque | September 15, 2010
Like the availability in wide width, dislike that the insole feels thin, bought it because it's the only canvas shoe I could find anywhere (locally or on the web)

Wears this shoe: When Sailing And Around The Dock Where Surfaces Are Slippery
By NSMS, from Madison, NJ | September 01, 2010
I have loved this shoe forever although over the past four or five years the shoe has become a problem because of yellow staining when the shoes get wet and are allowed to dry wicking up the yellow stain from deep within the shoe. I hope that this will not happen with this iteration of my ownership. If it does I will never buy this shoe again. There must be a way to fix this problem. The shoe is a boat shoe and I wear it on sail boats that get very wet when things get exciting. A white shoe that turns yellow when it gets wet is not an acceptable boat shoe. In spite of my experience in the past, I am again buying a pair because it is otherwise a great shoe for the deck.
