beautiful boots, but they're going back

I fell in love with these boots immediately, but the sizes are completely whacked out. I would normally wear an 8 or 8 1/2 in boots, but the toe-box is so narrow (and I have very thin, narrow feet anyways). I went to Dillard's to try on a size 9 with the hopes that they would be better, but no luck. The design of these boots is fabulous, but the sizes are completely wrong!!

I ordered these in the Kenya. They are beautiful with a "rugged" look and are made well. The leather is definitely on the stiff side. They stretch if you wear them around the house for a while--so don't worry if they feel a bit snug when you first try them on. Width around the calf seems fine--(I have a 12 1/2 inch calf circumference); they are not tightly fitted and there is room for tucking pants in. I did not give them 5 stars because they are not as cushioned and supportive as I expected from the "Sofft" shoe company. I've tried 5 brands of boots in my quest for THE boots. These are the second most comfortable, (Born boots were the MOST comfortable), but these are the style I was looking for, so these are the keepers.

I like the style. After wearing them three times, they are forming to my feet. However, the boot is too narrow, I should have gotten a Wide. The top of the boot is tight so I thought I might take them to a shoe repair shop and see if they will stretch them. I can only wear knee high nylons with them.

I originally ordered this boot in 6 1/2 and it was very tight and short, so returned & ordered in 7, which felt good. I wear 6 1/2 across the board in brands and styles, so this boot was not a true to size item. I love the style as it is flat w/built in orthotic, sturdy, and tall and fits my chic outdoorsy look here in rural PA.

The fit is true, although too "full" for me. I am very pleased with the color, even though it is not a real gray. It is more of a taupe, as there is a bit of brown evident. It seems to be a cross between suede and leather in the areas mared suede, very low nap. I have very thin calves and this boot is a better fit than most. I am between a narrow and a medium, so I always have to order medium. As a result, I use an innersole pad and a good pair of socks, then these boots fit just fine and the comfort level is improved. I might add, they appear to be of a higher quality than the price would suggest.
Wears this shoe: casual, sporty, with pants and/or jeans tucked in.
