Hooray for Swedish Ingenuity!

I am an avid walker who has been frustrated over the years by winter injuries due to slipping. The first road test was 4 miles long on asphalt streets which were sometimes covered by snow and ice. I had a little more foot-fatigue than usual, but the shoes were comfortable, roomy enough for my Keen heavyweight socks. The removable insole allowed me to use a 9mm heel lift, and the shoelaces remained firmly tied with no stretching. I didn't have to adjust my gait at all, and am thrilled with the freedom to walk again. Next adventure takes them off-road this weekend.

Great shoes

I really like the traction these provide, regular trail shoes slip too much in the winter snow/ice. I bought these for the bugrip cleats and they are great! Lightweight and flexible but still feel solid and grip. But be aware that these are a minimalist design so they are flatter than it seemed in the pictures. My previous shoes had a very high heel to toe pitch and big padded heels. My feet and ankles were sore for about a month but now they are adjusting good. So if you are persistent on being a heel striker and you can't adjust technique these may not be a good match to you.

Lowa Renegade III GTX Mid
Worn for years
January 06, 2013
Reviewer: Pam from Spokane
I've had these for years and have hiked all over, steep, rocky, wet. In fact, I'm starting to think about my replacement pair, they've been stitched up once and the soles are getting thin. Thankfully, it appears they haven't changed anything. As to waterproofness, they have gotten wet a couple of times in extended wet conditions, but usually, they are fine. Walking through little creeks is not a problem. It is such a hassle having narrow feet, it is great to find a boot that is so comfortable on the trail all day long.
