These shoes are awesome if you want to strengthen your feet for trail running. I like to use them because I like making my body stronger in every way possible. Do be careful if you have never really run barefoot. You need to work up to regular running in these shoes if you are used to using tennis shoes. The intricate muscles of your foot are worked much more by this style of running, but if you want a challenge, or just like to strengthen your body every way possible, these are for you.

I moved to this shoe after having been a big fan of the Grid Tangent. I was looking for the same thing -- something light, since I am doing a fair amount of mileage -- but also something with some real support (since I am doing a lot of mileage!) The ProGrid Mirage 2 fills the bill nicely, and it's probably a peppier shoe than the Grid Tangent was (or maybe it is just the iridescent colors, which I like a lot, too). On the other hand -- and this may be just impressionistic -- the heel/sole might be wearing a bit faster. They seem pretty cooked by 250 miles, although I'll wear them to 280 ... I'm rating them 4-stars instead of 5 for the wear factor. The comfort, support, and weight are 5-stars.
Wears this shoe: Every day, for at least 10K, but more like 8 miles, sometimes more on Sundays!

I love the feel of freedom combined with the ability to contour to ground conditions while strengthening my feet. Feels like a glove and is durable. Leather is good quality. All of the glove type shoes from Merrell run a half to a full size large except for the Road Glove which runs closer to normal sizing. Don't purchase these too large or your foot will move around too much. They are meant to fit like a glove.Once you switch to this type of shoe, I doubt you will want to wear anything else on your feet. I wear a pair everyday.
