Barefoot refers to footwear designed with a flexible, thin sole that is shaped like a foot in order to make the shoe feel more like bare feet than traditional shoe soles. These flexible soles allow feet to have a better sense and feel of the ground while still providing foot protection. Types of barefoot footwear include toe shoes, huaraches, racing flats, hiking flats, and running shoes.
Footwear made of flexible material, typically featuring a sole made of rubber. Sneakers were originally sporting apparel, but are today worn much more widely as casual footwear.
Merrell Barefoot Run Bare Access Arc 2 Fantastic Lightweight Sneaker

I started wearing Merrell sneakers this past winter and absolutely am hooked on them! Since they were leather/suede, I wanted something that would be cooler for the summer. When I found the Bare Access Arc 2, I wasn't sure they would be right for me so I called Merrell to inquire. They told me my winter sneaker was a bit more cushioned and that I shouldn't have a problem adapting to the "barefoot" feel of the Bare Access...they were right! They are so lightweight but have great arch support and you feel like you're walking on air. I love them so much I purchased them in 2 colors. I just returned from vacation and my Merrell's tagged along. They add practically nothing to the weight of your suitcase. Give them a try...they will not disappoint.

I bought these shoes because I am training for my first 5K. First, they weigh nothing! I put them on and hopped on the treadmill...LOVE!!! Great arch support and super comfortable!!! I did not even have to break them in first. Not only are they super comfortable, they are CUTE!! I bought the yellow and pink and absolutely love them!!! No complaints at all.
