Reviewer: Mel from Houston, TX Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width This shoe feels like it's well built and sturdy, took me a couple of days to break it in. Wears this shoe: Work Reviewer: kess61 from Northern Catskill Mountains Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width As the owner of 8 pairs of boots/shoes from shoebuy.com, I appreciate the company's excellent policy of allowing customers to "test drive" products. Looking for a good-fitting black boot for this coming winter, I tried two products which did not fit well. My return of these resulted in prompt refunds to my credit card. But, the Merrell fit well and fit the bill. What can I say? It is an outstanding Italian-made, reliable boot. I love my new boots, and I recommend this product highly. Wears this shoe: Almost daily - with jeans. I'm in a rural area. Reviewer: till from colorado Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width What a relief that I have finally purchased a new pair of boots. I had my last pair about ten years with numerous vibram soles. Hopefully these will out last me. Wears this shoe: all the time 365 days a year and about 17 hours a day Reviewer: SevenSummits from Sandy, UT Shoe Size: Felt half size larger than marked Shoe Width: Felt wider than marked I wear size 11 in most every brand and the Wilderness 11s are about a half size too big, but still functional with heel hold. These are great looking, well made, quality boots for all around purposes from long, heavy-load hikes to kicking around. Wears this shoe: Hiking, Casual Reviewer: Luke from Atlanta GA - (formely Seattle) Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Day one of the shoe was stiff (like a ski boot) but since then nothing but bliss. I wear them all the time. Merrell builds a comfortable shoe (all their shoes). The one piece of leather reduces the amount of stitching and thus reduces the areas to fail. I've worn them for 18hrs straight, day after day and could not be happier. Wears this shoe: all the time Reviewer: j. from Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width These boots need a bit of breaking in, but are doing so without too much foot pain. I can tell that once the leather has softened, they will be extremely comfortable. They are well made and supportive (if a bit on the heavy side) and should last for many years to come. This boot is gorgeous. Bought this boot primarily to use as a winter, hike around the town boot. Wears this shoe: When the weather outside is frightful or for taking a hike in the mountains. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: Reviewer: Anonymous from Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width I bought my first pair in 1998. I replaced the soles twice and the were in need of the third sole replacement. I figured they had seen some heavy milage and it was time to retire my trusty hiking/work boots as the inside was starting to get a little tattered. I bought a new pair a couple of weeks ago and I think the'll make it until 2016 easily with very little maintenance. Wears this shoe: 5 days a week at work Reviewer: AV from Boston, Massachusetts Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Gift for my son in law - he has wanted these for years. He said they were as wonderful as he had hoped! Reviewer: Matthew R. Starkloff from Fresno, California Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width I like Merrell's Wilderness boot. It reminds me of the original hikers and not all this soft mesh stuff nowadays. Nothing wrong with those types, but with the Wilderness model you can use it as a workboot or hiking boot. You can wear it with pants or shorts and they look good with both. Even if you had to dress up and had no dress up shoes, you might be able to get away with wearing them with dinner etc... too. I do miss the original tongue inlay of leather as opposed to the cloth material. It makes them look cheap considering all the material is either leather with the exception of the footpad for resting your foot inside. I would love to see the full-leather tongue come back in full swing. I bought it for the reasons above. I wanted a workboot I could wear with shorts and pants and that were durable to keep me with a lifetime of fit. I have since calmed down some and look forward to having them for many many years to come. Wears this shoe: I wear this shoe mainly to work and on casual weekends. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: Reviewer: Chris from WA Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Oh man, these things are like a motocrossboot for the first 25 hours, accompanied with sores and blisters of every shape and size, but now, they are like butter. Soft and supple, they cradle my blocky and angular feet like a featherbed of italian leather. They rule. Wears this shoe: 2x's a week 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful: Reviewer: Dave from Omaha Ne Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width These boots were awesome. I scoped out several top brands (high dollar) and decided on the Merrell Wilderness. These boots are a little stiff at first but will break in slowly with a week or two of wearing them around the house. Now, they are like the toughest pair of gloves I have ever owned. I'm sure they will be around for several years like my old Vasque that I purchased 12 years ago. Wears this shoe: Every time I leave the house 9 of 10 people found the following review helpful: Reviewer: Jon D. from CT Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width I've had these boots for years 14! I've resoled them twice during that time period and about 4 years ago I had a cobbler put some stitching in on the inside of the boot as some small tears began in the fabric. I no longer know if they are currently made the way the were made in 1992, but they are great buy if one can get 4,000 plus miles and greater then 10 years out of a boot! Wears this shoe: hiking, backpacking, some snow removal and work 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful: Reviewer: Jimmy from Columbus, Ohio Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width I wanted these because I wanted a pair of Merrell boots with good support that didn't look crazy. These have that simple, black leather workboot look that I really like. Although they don't provide as much support as a sportier pair of Merrells, they have considerably more support than a pair of plain old workboots. They are comfy enough to wear almost every day, and I do. I tried on a lot of boots (Timberlands, Doc Martin, Sketchers) before settling on these. After about a month of normal wear, I'm very happy with my purchase. Wears this shoe: At least every other day. Viewing reviews 1 - 14 of 14 Return to product detail page
