These are a very good, well made boot and they should last anyone a long time in medium duty hiking and working. They are not a true heavyweight boot but for most people they will last and serve very well. The leather is thick and tough but the laces aren't up to the job. A new pair of round nylon laces work much better. The only major flaw is the lack of a secure, snugging hook at the end of the eyelets to lock in the foot lacing so you are able to secure the shaft lacing in a different tension. All in all, a decent, durable boot for most tasks. That's the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. Otherwise, it's a beautiful boot, well-constructed, sturdy soled, excellent materials. I haven't done any long hikes yet. Nevertheless, these appear to be superior to any other backpacking boots that I've worn. Wears this shoe: walk abouts, backpacking Reviewer: B. S. Stafford from Ashville, North Carolina Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width This is my second pair of these boots and I will continue to buy them as long as they continue to built them at equal quality ! The tread wear it many times greater than there competition, the leather is thicker and sturdier than all the competition and they have never developed water leaks. You know when you put these boots on your feet that they are well protected and that your feet are well supported! The only thing lacking is just a little more arch support! I use arch support inserts and they allow me to stand on hard surfaces 16 hours a day if needed, without suffering back pain or heel and foot pain! Reviewer: Dave from NorthEast, PA Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width This is the 4th pair of this shoe I have purchased. All I can say is that it works for me. I wear them every day for almost 2 years before I need a new pair. I have been wearing them around to break them in. Frankly they fit quite well out of the box and are quite comfortable also. I was worried about them being too hot and I haven't felt that they were too hot so far. I have gone on a few short hikes and have loved the stability and the fit. They provide a nice stiff base with the comfort that I expected. I have no complaints whatsoever. Excellent boots. I have worn leather hiking boots for 30 years, including Galibier, Lowa, Garmont, Meindl and Vasque. These fit my feet perfectly and are the best of the best. I have a 12B low volume foot. The 535s lace perfectly around my foot and are comfortable without slippage. I would guess that this boot would be too narrow for a wide, high volume foot, but that is not reflected in the other reviews. The tongue and lacing system are perfectly engineered allowing a uniform, comfortable closure over the forefoot. I lace the boots rather loosely at the ankle for comfort; the heel stays put. The unique last allows the foot to 'rock' forward with minimal sole flex - something you must feel to appreciate. In this day and age of disposable boots that could double as a coffee filter, I can't say enough about the quality of this all leather boot. Leather, stitching, gluing and design all appear to be perfect. Also, it is important to me that when I need another pair of 535s, Asolo will still make them and the quality and fit will still be the same. Wears this shoe: All day every day Reviewer: Stepbill from Aberdeen, North Carolina Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width I was looking for a boot that I could wear both hiking and motorcycle riding. I go to a lot of rallies and am on my feet quite a bit. I did a lot of research and found these boots. I am truly happy that I bought them! When I ride my bike to work, I wear them and boy are they comfortable. I work in a facility with nothing but concrete floors and these are great for my feet. People have said they are heavy but I have adjusted to them. The only negative thing I could say are about the laces. Four dollars will fix that. Great pair of boots! I highly recommend them and will buy them again when or if they wear out! Wears this shoe: Hiking, bike riding and to work Reviewer: Mike from Denver, Colorado Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Asolo makes a fine boot. They fit right out of the box. I have owned the Asolo Fugitive for 4 years and really like them, so I decided to give the 535's a shot. Living in Colorado gives all outdoor equipment the ultimate test since it is the epicenter for outdoor activities. I got them because with leather, I thought my feet would get too hot with Gortex lining. These remain the right temp. I have only had them a few days, but they seem up to the high standards of Asolo. Wears this shoe: To work on snowy winter days in Denver (of corse the sun prevails later) Reviewer: Joseph from Bronx, NY Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Before I made a purchase I read some of the reviews for the boots I chose. All of the reviews were expressing satisfaction for the boots. This didn't influence my decision to purchase, however now I see why others gave such high regards for this shoe. These boots are absolutely the best in style, fit, color and durability. Wears this shoe: I wear the shoe mostly when it snows 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: Reviewer: Wa Hiker from Seattle, WA Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width I found this boot to be very nice and comfortable with the addition of an insert. The boot is extremely roomy above my foot without an insert. It is almost as if it was designed to have an additional insert, there is too much space above the foot without the insert and it is not tight enough because of it. All in all a great boot! Wears this shoe: Hiking Reviewer: Chris from California Shoe Size: Felt half size larger than marked Shoe Width: Felt true to width These are my second pair of Asolo boots and they are top-notch. They are a bit heavy, but solid in construction and fine details as I've come to expect from Asolo. Wears this shoe: Hiking & backpacking Reviewer: bert from McCall, Idaho Shoe Size: Felt half size larger than marked Shoe Width: Felt true to width Very comfortable right out of the box. No breaking in period needed. I wear them 10-12 hours a day and am in no hurry to take them off. I thought they were a little long than marked at first but as my foot molded to the boot it feels perfect. Excellent workmanship. They feel lighter than I anticipated and are not clunky. No heavy backpacking loads yet but I anticipate good performance.
