I love these shoes. They took a month to break in, but now they are the most comfortable shoes I own. When I don't wear them to work, my back and feet hurt. I stand and walk on cement my entire shift.

I bought these shoes for their alder wood base, as I am on my feet for 15 hours a day. Within three months the nails started falling out, then the red "coating" on the leather started shriveling up, and falling off, basically these shoes which are touted as handmade and wonderful are junk!

A couple of the 'nails' that hold down the leather have become loose. I've had these clogs for the past 5 years and this is the first time this has happened. It causes scratches in the leather as well.

Troentorp Bastad Clogs

I have used another brand of clogs with plastic composition soles that separated (like in half) and couldn't be worn any more or could be repaired. These clogs were used inside the home and should have lasted a long time. I was disappointed that the soled disintegrated and when I called the manufacturer, they would not stand behind their product.I'm very satisfied with my purchase of Bastad Clogs although the size 44 was a little a might too large. They also require a short period to get used to walking in as the Troentorp clog is designed to be comfortable for people who stand for extended periods of time. This is not a squishy, feel good plastic piece of junk, but a quality product based on a proven, classic design that has worked for many years and uses high quality natural products in it's manufacture. I am especially satisfied with the finish and the use of small, chrome nails that are used to bind the leather uppers to the wooden sole (which is then covered with a rubber, non-slip sole instead of the cheap staples used by other clog competitors (that work loose).Pay a little more for this quality product and you'll be happy you did. The Cherry color is not only good looking, but is cool and makes a fashion statement that you care about what you put on your feet.

These clogs are very well-crafted, with nails instead of staples. The footbed is wooden, with wonderful arch support and even a spot hollowed out for the big toe. I wear women's size 11, and ordered men's size 42 and 43 per the advice of the folks at Troentorp. I kept the 43s and put in a Doctor Scholl's gel insole which made the fit just right for me (previously, they were a bit too loose, but the 42s were too small). I am used to a softer footbed on my 13-hour hospital shifts, so this combination seems to be working well for me. I still have to break the shoes in further. The top of my foot hurts a little after wearing, and I don't think these shoes are as comfortable as my Z-coils (which are truly ugly, expensive, and not well-crafted as I see it). I am optimistic about these shoes working out.If they don't work for my hospital work, they will be PHENOMENAL for everyday wear.

I normally wear size 12EE shoes and have had problems with Dansko clogs. I feel that the Danskos were smaller than sized.The Bastad clogs are wonderful! just loose enough to last the whole day. I get a lot of complements on their appearance and the wood sole keeps supporting my feet all day long. Plus no staining! Goodbye Dansko, hello Bastad!
