Achilles tendonitis is the inflammation of the Achilles tendon, the fibrous tissue that attaches the calf muscle to the back of the heel bone, causing pain and swelling.
The causes of Achilles tendonitis include overuse of the tendon, overly tight calf muscles, misalignment and improper footwear.
