Another gorgeous spring day. Time to call in sick - again. An all-time favorite, the R1 Hoody earns raves from our most active customers and ambassadors alike. Slim fit leaves room for a light baselayer. Warm, breathable and mobile, it has the minimalist detailing that avid climbers and backcountry skiers need. From the stretchy and more earth-friendly R1 polyester fabric (made with polyester that's 60% recycled), to the snug-fitting balaclava-style hood. With low-grid stretch polyester under the arms, at the wrist cuffs and around the long bottom hem for minimal bulk under a harness.

Like: Warm, comfy, well designed. Good as single layer to 50 degrees (no wind)on dreary days, or mid-layer for colder weather.Dislike: Shoebuy has best price anywhere, but still *way* overpriced (typical Patagonia)for something made from coke bottles. Definite slim fit! If you're 6', 175#, slender arms & chest then the Large is good snug fit but not tight. I think you can do as well or better with a WalMart $10 polyester fleece if you don't need a hood and thumbloops. Mango color is nothing but hunter orange and takes some getting used to. But I'm not an alpine climber; I'm a hiker/backpacker.Why I bought: the million recommendations on backpacking sites; Patagonia reputation. I like it, but maybe because I paid so much for it. Wouldn't buy again because of price; I'll get a dozen WM fleeces instead.
