I bought these a half size bigger because I read they run small and I had to put orthotics in them. Was glad I did. Very nice large toe box which I need because of bunions, corns and arthritis. They were comfortable from the start. Like to wear them for walks when it is wet. They're one of my favorite shoes.

I am a long time New Balance customer. I ordered this shoe to wear in the fall before snow convinced to try them after reading reviews. The shoe lived up to its reputation as one of the most comfortable shoes around. The longer I wear them, the more comfortable they are. They are light with excellent support for my pronating feet. I can wear an insert to lift the arch and they fit snuggly and I can wear them all day if need be.

I love these shoes--only shoes I wear, except for my dress shoe Aravons. I injured my foot and had a tendon reconstructed and now get to wear orthotics--these shoes are perfect for me. I love the roll bar since that is how I injured my foot. I feel very secure in these shoes.

The shoe is at least a half size shorter than usual, but I knew this from my previous New Balance shoes so I ordered a 9 instead of an 81/2. I loved my NB748's but they are worn out and I need a good tred for hiking on our mountainous Am dog walk. The 977's do have a good tred, but the toe box is not as roomy as the 748's and I can't wear a heavy hiking sock with them. There is good ankle support, but I liked the lower-topped 977's better for in-between walking. I have true hiking boots for long-distance hiking. I will keep them cuz there is apparently no more 748.

I am actually returning these shoes. I have an extremely narrow foot, and these were the first shoes that were too narrow. They also appeared lower in the picture - they are true high tops. Otherwise they seemed okay, but my preference is for a lighter lower shoe.
