I have a dropped foot and wear a brace. These shoes are excellent for walking, even though I use a walker. I have always wore New Balance but I like these better than others I have had.Thanks for making them so great to walk in.

This shoe is very light weight and comfortable. However, it lacks much in the way of support and cushioning. I immediately replace the insole with a more substantial one to get more support. I've worn the NB 558 for years and thought I'd "trade up" but if you're looking for a walking shoe with support and cushioning I'd recommend the 558 over this shoe.
Wears this shoe: Daily walking -- 3-5 miles.

I walk 4 miles aerobically 6 - 7 days per week. I was looking for a replacement for my NB 492's and this seemed to be the shoe. They were a little loose in the heel; so I really had to tighten them up. However, they are comfortable. The reason I am giving them three stars instead of five is that they keep getting looser in the heel as time goes on...and I really don't care for the "walking path" on the bottom...but that is a personal preference. Next time I will order a shoe that is maybe built for running or crosstraining, rather than one like this.
Wears this shoe: To walk 4 miles aerobically daily.

I have a wide foot with a high instep. I am also into walking now, and was looking for a walking shoe that had good support and did not pinch my feet. These New Balance walking shoes were just what I was looking for. A friend who also has trouble finding wide width shoes suggested them to me, and I am forever grateful.
