I purchased them because my sons need uniform shoes and the options were slim. i have worn New Balance athletic shoes before with no problem at all. Therefore I felt they would be a smart purchase for my sons. They found the shoes to be comfortable but could not stand up to my 8yr old. The threads were always hanging and the velcor straps had to be reglued. the front of the shoe where the toe is had started to peel apart. My 11 yr old did not experience any defects at all? I have since reordered these same schools to be worn for the next 5 months. I am assuming that the first pair was defected? Wears this shoe: to school
