The MO 1099 is difficult to get on

I find the MO 1099 difficult to get on because where the opening at the top of the shoe is too tight for my instep to fit through easily. Once you struggle to get it on if feels alright around the foot. The size and width are OK but if you tie the ankle laces tight the shoe hurts my ankle. I tried to tie them looser and it seems to work better for me. They seem to be well made but a lot of work to get on. I've not tried them in the woods yet.

Shoe is nice looking and extremely comfortable. Vibram soles are durable and good for light climbing on slippery surfaces. Unfortunately, shoes seem to be hastily made with glue where it's not supposed to be and what looks like paint overspray on small portions of the shoe. I miss when most New Balance shoes were made in the US, the workmanship was much better. One of the shoes was put together a little off, so there is some bunching of the material at the instep. If it were much worse I would have returned them for another pair, and probably should have from the beginning. I'm a little skeptical of some of the materials used in the shoes construction being able to endure rough wear and being able to last. There is a black felt like material that is already lightly pilling. I have only worn them a few times so I can't be sure of how well they will hold up. I also can't say that they would be worth the retail price, but then again I didn't pay that for them.

I am dissatisfied with this pair of new balance shoes !!The quality is not as good as all the other new balance shoes I have purchased over the years .. They look like a spin off of the real thing .the no. on the heel is painted on to the shoe ,all other ones I have is embroidered on a small pc. of leather and inserted in the heel ....The leather upper is not the quality I am wanting in my shoes ...

I ordered these in a 9.5 Narrow. I liked the look, the color, and the quality. But the shoes were much too wide, especially in the toe box. My feet moved around inside the shoes so much, I had to return them.
