While my right foot is bigger than my left, my left foot was the one that slightly hurt when wearing these at first. THe right fit perfectly though, maybe it's just my feet. As for the look of the shoe, it's hard to tell that the decoration on the top of the toe section of the shoe is actually a little buckle, exactly like the one on the ankle strap.
