I bought these (in a size 8) for my 20-month-old son because I wanted a well-made shoe that bridged winter and spring in NJ with the versatility of being able to go to the playground and supermarket as well as church and parties--and these haven't disappointed. The leather was nice and soft from the beginning, with a sturdy, non-slip sole. However, beware: THE VERY FIRST TIME my little guy wore them, the brown leather got scuffed and discolored! And he wasn't even climbing jungle gyms or jumping in puddles; we were just taking a walk! Maybe suede would've been better, since they could then be brushed (whereas I'm too lazy to polish a toddler's shoes ;) Still, they will carry us until he can wear canvas sneakers and sandals and look cute too!

Our 2 1/2 yr old loves his bug brown Merrell Sprint Jrs. He asks to wear them wherever he goes, but they are his "school" shoes so they are reserved for school, church, visiting friends.

These shoes are nice looking and fit true to size. However, my son has only worn them a week and the toes are totally scuffed that I'm going to have to polish them. The leather has seemed to wear away very quickly that I'm wishing I purchased the suede ones.
