This is my second pair of Merrell Sawtooth boots, I like them very much. They are a mid-weight boot and require little or no break in, and provide good support for hiking, backpacking, and snowshoeing on rugged, mountain trails. After three hiking seasons (about 800 trail miles), the stitching at the corners of the toe began to separate from the boot leather, but as I said that was after about 800 miles!

Bought them and tried them on, felt great. They have a almost "rolling" effect like a "see-saw" which feels great. Used them a bit in the uneven and rocky terrain of Hawaii's lava flows and they worked flawlessly.\

This is my fourth pair of Sawtooth's in about as many years. I have worn this boot over the years for after work and weekend casual wear and daily for the last six months while in Iraq. The support, for me, is outstanding as I can be on my feet for 8 to 12 hours at a time often with 60 pounds of gear. My feet don't ever ache or "get tired" wearing these boots. I've also hiked down and back in the Grand Canyon and and these Merrill's were great for support, grip and traction. The only negative with these boots is the laces. It seems that after 4 or 5 months the outer lace cover tears and they must be replaced. They are reasonablly cool in hot environments but not waterproof. For a while I couldn't find these Merrills and thought they were being phased out. When I found them again I bought four pairs to make sure I would have a pair for the next few years. Very comfortable and supportive with no break in time for me. A really great light hiker and quality Merrill product.

Purchased after reading favorable reviews on several sites and having worn other Merrell footwear. A very comfortable boot. I work for a winery/ranch and spend several hours a day walking around in various terrain from flat to very steep. Excellent support and they are wearing very well. Will purchase again as long as in production. With our predominately clay soil I wish they made a smoother sole model for the rainy season.

I have had two other pairs of these boots and couldn't find them in stores any more and thought they stopped making them. I am so glad I found them again. The other pairs I have had lasted around 3 years or so. I work for a rail road and have to walk on some pretty poor footing most of the time and these boots give me the support I need and don't bother my heal spurs. The best thing is they meet the safety regulations the rail road has for foot wear.
Wears this shoe: all the time
