Product Description (Men's Merrell Refuge Core Ventilator)
This high-octane hiking shoe lets nothing stand in its way on the trail. Equipped with stabilizing Merrell Split™ heel technology for uneven terrain, breathable mesh uppers and an ideal balance of flexibility and support, Core delivers non-stop comfort and pinnacle performance.
This shoe features Strobel construction for flexibility, a bellows tongue to keep out debris, an abrasion resistant TPU toe and heel bumper, an Aegis® Anti-microbial treated lining, an external counter, an Ortholite® anatomical footbed, a molded nylon arch shank, a compression molded EVA footframe, a Split™ Technology heel with dual density EVA to absorb shock and prevent over-pronation and a Merrell Air Cushion in the heel for shock absorption and stability.

Lightweight but quite rugged! Would suggest ording half size up though!

Bought these to hike in and wanted a cooler shoe so I opted for the mesh construction. They fit well and were comfortable from the first time I wore them. They fit and are comfortable with or without socks. They provide great traction while hiking in sandy or rocky trail conditions and support well. I would buy these again!

I've had 2 other Merrells and these are the same - the issues and the "goods".Size - about 1/2 size too small in length and width - allow for this.Comfort - takes some breaking, but once there, it's a solid, supportive, trail hiking shoe. If I want a street walker built just for cushion and comfort, I would go to another brand. BUT for on the trail in AZ long hikes, etc. these are the best IMHO. In the Midwest, I would want something a little more water repelling.
