The proprietary trail running technology that keeps runners swift and centered now extends its efficiency in the face of bad weather via ultra-breathable GORE-TEX® gasket construction. The visible tubes of Merrell TrailSpring™ design cushions the heel strike and inhibits overpronation. A Trail Balanced™ last stabilizes the heel and, combined with a cutaway Vibram® Full Speed II™ sole, frees the forefoot for easy toe-off.
Stability trail shoe. Merrell exclusive Trail Balanced™ last. GORE-TEX® gasket construction with EVA strobel insole. Waterproof mesh and finished leather upper with 3M™ Scotchlite™ 360° reflective trim. Kevlar® lace and TPU molded lace lock system. Bellows tongue with protective foam insert and lace keeper flap. Forefoot protection design with gaiter hook.
Slits at toe cap allow expansion and prevent toe trauma. Ananomical EVA footbed with Etc® anti-friction mesh lining. Dual density molded EVA footframe. TrailSpring™ injection TPU structural support, alignment and cushioning system.
Gaiter strap channel at arch bridge. Air Cushion® EVA midsole. 5mm sole lug depth. Vibram® Full Speed II ™ dual density/TC5+ rubber.

This is a nice, high quality XCR running shoe better suited to street than trail. The fit feels a full size smaller than other Merrell hikers which isn't a big deal if you use thin running socks. I like the quick lace set up.
