I was surprised how comfortable these were right out of the box, as I needed hardly any break in time. They are so comfortable and lightweight that I find myself doing my running in them as opposed to my sneakers. I haven't used them for the hike I bought them for yet (Machu Picchu), but I have full confidence they will meet my needs.

Liked the look, color and weight (very light), but at the same time rugged. Will be doing a good bit of hiking and mountain treking in the next couple of months and wanted a mid level hiking shoe that would stand the daily grind. Impressed so far.

I bought these shoes to wear in the Middle East where working as a contractor. Many people have recommended them for that environment due to the comfort & breath ability of the shoe, even with the Gortex. Merrell's are worn regularly by contractors in the Middle East & other parts of the world & seem to hold up well in those harsh environments. I have been wearing them daily here in the Southern heat of the USA to get them broke in prior to deploying & have been quite happy with them thus far.
