I was looking for something light, (close to a water shoe) but durable. I found it with the Merrell Chameleon Hex. It is as light as a running shoe but with great tread and breathable. I have used it on hikes in the Canadian Rockies to rock-climbing walls with the kids. It has a nice arch support and wears like iron. So far it has been an excellent kick-around shoe and generally the first shoe I grab for in the morning. I highly recommend it with no reservations.

This is the eighth pair of Merrell Chameleons that I have owned. A pair lasts me about 9 months of daily use. I buy a new pair and keep the old pairs for sloppy work/play activities. Try them!!
