Exactly the Rain Jacket I Was Looking For
By Mourad, from New York, NY | August 24, 2013
I researched rain jackets before this purchase. The Marmot Aegis lives up to its very positive review: great value , fit, and look. Very pleased.

I worn it after graduation during my seniors classes parties, if it can survive 7 days of constant partying and bonfires (a pair of my shoes didn't) it can survive anything. Seriously though, one of the best gifts I ever received, I would have bought it if I hadn't gotten it for graduation. I've had many rain jackets and this is the best one.

Lightweight and waterproof - a couple concerns
By Ewan, from Urbana, Illinois | May 20, 2009
The Aegis jacket so far seems like a bargain. It's totally waterproof (most rain jackets are) and very lightweight. This is in part thanks to Marmot's new system that does away with one layer of fabric. I've only owned the jacket for only a few weeks, so I cannot comment on durability.I use the jacket primarily for cycling (commuting and road riding) and occasional hiking. The fit is good. I'm 6 ft and fairly skinny and a medium fits me well. It's not long in the waist - just below my belt line. It's a little baggy in the chest, but not terribly so. The sleeves fit nice and snug, though I only wish they had one more velcro patch to bind a little tighter when it's really pouring. The hood is all-encompassing and rolls into the collar compactly and securely - this way it isn't flapping in the wind when not needed.I appreciate the ventilation features: pit zippers and a bottom-up zipper improve airflow. The jacket can still get a little sweaty in the lower back, though. This is not a micro-weight tropical jacket - it keeps you a little warm. The pockets are easy to access, but made of thin mesh, so I wouldn't store too much in them (they're technically only 'hand warmers'). The pocket zippers are also not shielded by a flap. I am skeptical of how long the exposed zippers will remain waterproof. The center zipper is shielded by a single flap. Overall solid - just a few minor details not quite right.
