I do international development work and this was great for my work - not too heavy, breathes alright, protects foot well but still low-cut. It does feel towards the narrow end of normal width, cut very close to foot. My only complaint was that I wish it had better arch support (I have moderately high arches) but a low-arch or flat footed person will probably find it to be quite supportive.
