I bought these boots for steep mountain hunting as I wanted stiffer boots than what I had for more ankle support. On a hunt this past fall I tested them in western Wyoming and they performed perfect. The ankle support is great and they stayed waterproof. There was some break-in required for me that I did prior to the hunt. Excellent quality. Thanks.

Great support and protection. Boots bought for heavy backpacking in the southwest and west deserts and mountains. Definitely not a wimpy boot in harsh conditions. Soles are reasonably sticky on rocky slopes, and provide good bite and self-cleaning on soft incline. Personally like the soft ankle padding (I have scarring here from past injury that some boots irritate). I put a lot of miles on these boots carrying up to a 60# pack without foot problems. Never a leak. Good toe room. I own three brands of heavy hikers, and wear name-brand heavy work boots for farming...these Lowa boots are the best and most comfortable of the lot.

I was told about this boot from a number of people in new zealand, so decided to buy a pair myself. They are excellent for hunting steep country. I mainly bought these boots to go Thar hunting with and they have certainly paid for themselves with great ankle support and dry feet.

I bought these for an upcoming elk hunt, on a recommendation from a friend. They're a little stiff for wearing around the house and maybe even for general walking, but boy do they shine with a 65 pound pack on your back. Hiking with that pack before I got the Lowas, my feet were taking a beating, but since the boots arrived, no more foot pain.
