I've been wearing my first pair of these for only a few days. The most helpful comment I can offer to prospective buyers is that I think they run a tad small. I wear size 10.5 in some brands (like Vasque) and 11 in others (like Merrill). I ordered the Lowa Tempest Lo in size 11 and they are barely long enough. I also have narrow feet and these shoes are snug enough for me, even with lighter hiking socks than I normally use. Backpacker Mag strongly recommended these shoes with this caveat: Best for low volume feet and consider order 1/2 size larger than normal. I think that's correct.

I'm on my fifth pair over ten years. They get replaced because the uppers wear and look crummy long before the soles wear out (I've never worn out the soles). They fit well and wear hard. I wear them for everything, summer and winter. Biking, hiking, walking and to work, day in and day out. The old ones are are now garden and shop shoes. New ones are getting a little hard to find.

Fits very well, sturdy lots of leather.Tongue pulls way out to make slipping your foot in easy without bunching up you sock around your toes.I have a fallen metatarsal on my left foot and Lowa is one of two brands of shoe I can wear.

I wear these daily year round. The dog and I are in the woods and field in them, they've carried me over Canadian Shield and the roads and sidewalks in several countries. The uppers wear out long before the soles and even then I still have pair 3 and 4 as well as the new ones. Orthotics fit in them just fine and the cushioning is perfect. I dislike wearing a heavy shoe and these feel just right.
