I've been wearing my first pair of these for only a few days. The most helpful comment I can offer to prospective buyers is that I think they run a tad small. I wear size 10.5 in some brands (like Vasque) and 11 in others (like Merrill). I ordered the Lowa Tempest Lo in size 11 and they are barely long enough. I also have narrow feet and these shoes are snug enough for me, even with lighter hiking socks than I normally use. Backpacker Mag strongly recommended these shoes with this caveat: Best for low volume feet and consider order 1/2 size larger than normal. I think that's correct.

I typically wear a size 11 for most shoes like Nike or New-balance so I ordered the 11's. I read the comments from others indicating that they run a little small but went for the 11's anyways. I tried on the boot and will say they are a tad bit smaller than I like, but very close. The length seems about right but as others have said the toe box is small so maybe it is just something that I needed to get use to. I do wear medium weight wool socks. This was the 3rd mail order boot that I had ordered in 3 weeks and returned the others. The return shipping charges from the other companies were starting to bug me so I want to like these shoes! I walked around the house with them for awhile and they seemed fine but still wasn't 100%. Finally I committed to the purchase and went for a 2 mile walk. Review: Great Boot, Very Firm and comfortable. I have put about 20 miles on these since the purchase and have no blisters or complaints. Would I go for the 11's again? Probably not. If you like a looser fit go for the next 1/2 size. If you like it snug and firm order your size. Enjoy
