This is the 5th pair of Lowa boots that i have bought over many years and it is the best pair yet. I go through a LOT of shoes, i don't own a car and so am on foot all day every day. i have tried many different brands but i always come back to Lowa. They are like the difference between a Chevy and a Mercedes-Benz, they simply are superior in every way. If this company ever goes out of business i will stop wearing shoes entirely like the hippy on Dual Survival. The only negative thing i could possibly say is that i tend to wear them out too quickly because i never take them off. The last pair i owned i wore continually for 2 1/2 years until i developed lower back problems. i couldn't fathom why and neither could my doctor. One morning i was on the floor stretching and noticed the heels of my beloved Lowa's were so badly worn that i must have been walking crookedly for i don't know how long. i never experienced any foot pain though so i never made the connection. Lesson learned, i bought a new pair and my back pain never returned! They are not inexpensive boots, though worth every penny, and nearly impossible to get re-soled. Most cobblers just scratch their heads when they see them. My advice? Get two pairs. Truly great shoes and the black ones are the best. May the schwarz be with you!

This is a high quality shoe with great support. The only thing that is annoying is that because of the leather lining they squeak very loudly when you walk. When you are outside and around noise it is not so noticeable but indoors people can hear you coming. I would recommend the Lowa Renegade GTX, essentially the same shoe but without the squeaky leather lining. I have 2 pair of the GTX's and I love them so I thought I would try the LL Mid but would not get them again due to how noisy they are.

Lowa's attention to detail as it pertains to producing a quality boot continues to impress me. The Renegade LL Mid is a lightweight hiking boot that provides excellent ankle support and the glove leather lining makes for one of the most comfortable hiking boots that I have worn. I am confident that this boot will stand up to the harsh Afghan environment.
