These shoes felt like they were made for my feet. It was a Wow moment. Wearing them first around the house for the first couple hours of use, they felt snug and secure with no hint of discomfort. Next use was an eleven mile walk of the Elroy-Sparta trail in mid Wisconsin. By the end of the hike they were feeling a little heavy but I'm not sure if that was the boots' fault. The sole is very stiff and seems to be very slip resistant. When hiking the Ice-Age trail around Lapham Peak I felt very comfortable and there are plenty of rocky/rooted sections. I paid the extra money for these to protect a healed broken ankle I did last year.

I did a ton of on line research for the perfect backpacking boot and actually had 7 different pair sent to me so I could take them on a walk around the block. I ordered size 7.5, which is my shoe size but the Lowa brand boots were bigger than expected. I ended up with size 7 so I recommend going down 1/2 size at least. TI also loved the look and navy blue color. The only way they could be more satisfying is to have that nice soft cowhide leather on the inside, but then you give up the Gortex. I have worn the Lowa GTX all day and never wanted to take them off but have yet to take them hiking so jury is still out on that.

these boots are durable, have an excellent sole--I use them for mountain hiking on very rough uneven terrain with wet and dry rock and no problems at all with traction on anything, they are very well made and comfortable, I love the rubber going around it. the downside is they are hard to tighten the laces and a bit too wide even with liner socks and heavyweight merino wool socks so maybe a little too much movement on the descent on uneven terrain though they have good side support for the ankles

Lady GTX is my all-time favorite. It's actually my second pair. I love mountain hiking and this lowa boots never fail my expectation wherever I go. The cusion inside feels very comfortable and the design looks very elegant too. Besides, Gortex material keeps my feet completely dry when I walk on heavy rainy days or stepping in a small pool of water.
