Great Chukar Boot December 31, 2012

Great ankle support. Traction is also great especially on those wet/frozen mornings on rocks. Side hilling the boot squeezes down on the outside (downhill) part of my foot which is annoying after awhile but feels like it should go away after the break in.

I was having heel pain and thought these shoes would help ease the pressure-it seems they have helped a lot-I am a hunter and do a lot of mountain walking. I am able to get along better while wearing these shoes.

Bought the boots for hunting and would recommend them highly...excellent fit, super comfortable, great support (especially in mountain terrain). I wore them 10 days packing and hunting and they were terrific. I bought them because they were highly rated in Eastman's hunting magazine, and they did not disappoint. Shoe Buy's customer service also rates #1 AAA. They are extremely knowledgeable about their product and answered any questions I had.

These are not the best boots for walking around town in the summer. They are however, one of the best for hiking in cold weather with a heavy load on your back. They are comfortable from day one, although they need to be left loose at the top until they're broken in.They are very stiff in the sole which requires a bit of practice to walk and get the best out of them. This gives great support for climbing steep hills while carrying in your food and shelter.

Nice solid boot... November 04, 2010

I bought this boot after talking to several Alaska hunting guides who highly recommended it. I was looking for a boot that provided more support than the Danner's that I have used (and like) for many years, as we often end up with packs in excess of 100 lbs and I occassional get to hunt sheep and goat. I was also looking at the Scarpa Liskamm GTX and although I liked it, it seems a little to stiff for me and much harder to break in. After receiving my new boots I walked for a couple of miles on a treadmill to make sure they fit properly (so I could still return them) and to start the break-in process a few weeks before my goat hunt. Well as luck would have it I had the opportunity to hunt Sitka Blacktail and a Kodiak road system bear the very next weekend. Based on the comfort I decided to take the Lowa's out and give them a try. I hiked around for 8 hours straight in my new Lowa's and was completely impressed. The provided tons of support and (I used Kahtoola Crampons the entire trip) they were great for climbing up revines and sidehilling. I did have a hot spot on my left heel but it did not blister and I should have had a longer breakin period. I have since worn them with no hot spots and my guide friends say I should get many more years of use out my new Lowas. Yes the hunting was great we saw 3 bucks, 7 does and a brown bear. I typically wear a 10.5 D and went with the 11s and they fit perfectly.
