As a tour guide goes much, and through harsh, shoes lowa are shoes that I recommend warmly. No matter how much kilometers I go on, no matter what weight I carry, at the end of the day back and legs do not hurt. It's the most important thing of tour guide. Thank you very much.

This boot is a work of art. The glove leather lining is extremely comfortable and prevents blisters compared to fabric linings. The rubber rand and lacing stud on the tongue are important touches indicative of Lowa's commitment to quality and not merely mass production. This boot will reward you for year's to come and its roots in traditional Bavarian boot making become more apparent with every passing mile.

Because I have no other choice, I am a major hiking boot performance snob. I was born with a misaligned ankle called a club foot. The birth defect was straightened with braces during my first two years of life so that one cannot tell by looking there was ever a problem. But normal appearance is not the same as functioning normally. My orthopedist told my parents to expect me to require a cane to walk before reaching my twenties. They did all they could to prevent that outcome. They always made me do therapy. And though we had a very tight family budget, Mom & Dad always bought me the best boots they could discover. At 53, I remain an extremely active and avid outdoorsman, logging much time and many miles on mountain trails. I buy the Lowa Baffin Pros because they are literally the best boots I can find anywhere that enable me to continue the many outdoor adventures that I so love. All my adult life, whenever I have discovered better boots, I have bought them, even if my old boots were not worn out. So far, I just bought and began happily wearing out my fifth pair of Lowa Baffin Pros because they are the best for my feet and ankles that I have been able to discover anywhere for any price with constant diligence. I am writing this review not for Lowa, but for myself. I want the Baffin Pro to be an economic success for Lowa so they will keep making it so I can keep buying it so I can keep moving/trekking.

Rugged and comfortable backpacking boots February 21, 2011

I already own pair of Lowa Tibet-Pro. It's waterproof Gore-Tex version of these boots. They are my go to boots for carrying heavy loads on difficult terrain. It takes little break-in but very comfortable and supportive once broken in. I hear these leather lined version is better suited for desert environment where I do most of my hiking. They are very well constructed boots. I look forward to using them this spring.
