Baffin is a high cuff, all leather boot designed for extended backpacking tours and heavy loads. It is leather lined for close to the foot fit and comfort. The upper is made of water-repellant, 2.5 mm thick seamless nubuck and the insole is climate-control.
The "C4" lacing system increases your walking comfort. Some of the features are: Asymmetrical padding which is thicker towards the outside of the foot. Recessed ankle areas which mean the inside is higher than the outside. Flexible curved insert towards the inside of the foot and soft edging on the upper end.
The Asymmetric Walking Position (AWP) is another great feature of this boot. It has a raised scree collar on the inside for better support. The ankle section of men's boot is set at a 2 degree outward angle to give a perfect fit with the lower calf, improving the rolling motion. The lining of the shoe is made with comfort leather.
The outsole is constructed of Vibram® "Tsavo". The sole has a self-cleaning profile which gives excellent grip on all types of ground. The braking helps with impact and rigidity zones. Also features a shock-absorbing polyurethane mid-sole for a high degree of walking comfort and 360 degrees of multi-traction.

The Lowa Baffin is over all a very well made boot. At first try I thought the toe box was a bit big, however when wearing proper hiking socks or seal skins they fit perfectly. The larger toe box is also part of the design because if you are hiking in a downhill position with a heavy pack the larger toe box prevents your toes from jamming in the front of the boot. Lowa boots are made inGermany, which is a plus for me. As for the Baffin, I have a feeling that with proper care these boots will last a very long time.

This is the first pair of hiking boots I have ever purchased and I expected them to be stiff and generally in need of breaking in. Not at all. They feel far more natural on my feet than my usual leather shoes do when I first wear them. They also look so good that my husband has ordered a pair of Baffins for himself.

I bought these boots at the beginning of the hiking season and hiked/backed over 400 miles in them this year. Did not experience any blisters during the breaking in period or experience blisters after the boots were broken in.Found the boots to be roomy in the toe box. Very easy to keep clean and to waterproof. The only thing I don't like about the boots are the shoelace holder on the tongue - A very minor complaint. I liked these boots so well that I order two extra spares.
Wears this shoe: Summer and fall during the hiking/backpacking season.
