Unusual heel may cause ankle problems

This slipper has a handsome upper. However, the sole and heel are not solid surfaces as with most shoes. Instead, there is a bed of raised "buttons" on which you walk. This is comfortable enough, but the problem is that the width of the buttoned surface at the heel is no more than two inches -- much like a track shoe -- which makes the slipper laterally unstable on hard surfaces. In fact, I turned my ankle in fewer than a dozen steps when trying them on. I admired the look of these slippers, but I decided that they are somewhat risky for an older man with a medium-to-wide foot, or one who tends to be a little bow-legged, as do I. If the walking surface had been solid and wide, I would have kept them, and I think they likely would be fine for resilient young fellows who always walk on thick-pile carpet at home.
Wears this shoe: I returned them.
