Johnston & Murphy Aldrich II
The Quality Has Declined
February 01, 2013
Reviewer: Dean from Virginia
I have worn this model of shoes for 30 years. The higher end J & M shoes used to be made in Tennessee by quality craftsman. These shoes used to be calf's leather and very comfortable. They are now made in India. The quality is less. I find the leather much stiffer than before and I have worn them now for a few weeks. They don't feel that great.

Johnston & Murphy Melton
Great shoe. A step up from my other J&M shoes.
December 31, 2012
Reviewer: Wayne from Southern California
I purchased my J&M Melton shoes in 10.5 3E, Black to have a more professional pair of dress shoes around the office or for meetings. I own 3 other pairs of J&M shoes over the years which include 2 pairs of the Bicycle Shuler, and a Harding Panel Toe Oxford. Those two models are not refurbishable whereas this new Melton is (for a fee). The leather upper feels higher quality than the other J&M shoes I own and appears much sleeker and professional all around. The sole is quite stiff in the beginning but just after a few days of wearing the Melton, it has become much softer. Before this, I also tried a pair of Allen Edmonds Kenilworth in 10.5 3E but the width was way too small. My feet felt cramped as soon as I inserted them into the shoes. The soles were also much stiffer than this pair of Melton's. It would have been a pain to break in the Kenilworth so I returned it.I would recommend this shoe if you're looking for a nicer pair of dress shoes by Johnston & Murphy.

Back to Johnson and Murphy
August 07, 2012
Reviewer: Steven from Albany, NY
I had not bought a pair of Johnson and Murphy shoes for at least 5 years, opting for those a little less expensive loafers. But once I put them on, I remembered how much I used to like their shoes. From the minute I put them on, they were as comfortable as if I had been wearing them for months. It has only been a couple of weeks since I bought them, but they are very durable, don't seem to scuff much, and still at the end of the day, they seem as comfortable as the penny loafers I had been wearing.
