Stylish though slightly overpriced
By Ben, from Boston | January 03, 2014
There's no debating this is a very nice dress shoe. It is well-made out of good quality materials, pretty comfortable, and extremely good looking. However, it's pretty pricey.

The Best Dress Shoe Ive Ever Worn
By MikePartciular, from Bethesda, MD | September 03, 2013
Has a fairly wide last, so it doesn't pinch your toes. At the same time is stylish, conservative and elegant. Trampoline cushioning system is a big plus. Wear with a suit or a SJ and slacks. And if you need to, can wear the black color with a tux. I've bought the black and brown twice each.Attractive design, comfortable, durable, flexible, lightweight, stylish, Trampoline Cushioning System.

The Quality Has Declined
By Dean, from Virginia | February 01, 2013
I have worn this model of shoes for 30 years. The higher end J & M shoes used to be made in Tennessee by quality craftsman. These shoes used to be calf's leather and very comfortable. They are now made in India. The quality is less. I find the leather much stiffer than before and I have worn them now for a few weeks. They don't feel that great.

I love these shoes. I have been buying this model for 30 years. They are the best j & m makes.

Not European
By ben, from Tokyo Japan | August 23, 2010
Despite being called European calf, I did not find these shoes European nor leather. They are rubber shoes made in India. The stamp on the shoes says India and after touching them, I had an oily chemical smell on my hands. The quality was really poor. The shoes were glued quickly and badly. Overall, a complete rip off.

Best Oxfords I ever tried
By Bharath, from Boston | May 05, 2010
I fell in love with these shoes after trying them at a Johnston & Murphy show room. I found the same shoes for good price on shoebuy.com. I like the cushioning and comfort of these shoes. Unlike some other shoes I tried before, these are usable for whole week without slightest discomfort. Another thing I like is that I got the 3E size which is not an option in most formal wear brands. One of the complaints I have is with the laces. One of them looks like it can snap out any time. And also hard surfaces can scratch off the sole slightly. But overall, these are the best Oxfords I tried and will be my favorites for long time to come.

Good shoes
By Anonymous, from Tucson, AZ | February 23, 2010
It is difficult for me to find an 11 A that fits and looks good. My heel is very narrow and most shoes slip at my heels. These fit very well and are very professional looking.

Best Shoe I've Ever Worn
By Darrell, from Prattville, Alabama | December 31, 2009
I'm in my mid-50's. For several years, my feet often ached at the end of the day and that's with an office job. I soon discovered that my arches were not properly supported. I had previously purchased dress shoes from Johnston and Murphy plus their competitors in the $150 price range. I assumed I was getting proper arch support but that was not the case.I happened to visit a Johnston & Murphy outlet. The sales rep first measured my feet and, to my surprise said that my shoes should be a half size larger than the size I had been wearing all my adult life. It turns out, that the arches in your feet can fall slightly with age causing your feet to elongate somewhat. I just assumed my feet stopped growing in my 20s and would always remain the same. She then recommended this particular shoe for its superior arch support.I then purchased two pairs - one in black and one in dark cherry. I can feel the arch support in these shoes. My feet no longer hurt at the end of the day. These are the best shoes I've ever worn. They are worth every penny. Further, they are very attractive.
