The insole has full length EVA sockliner, outsole has board lasted with steel shank for added rigidity, compression molded EVA midsole, and durable carbon rubber hiking outsole.

I got these for my 5yo son, we go geocaching/hiking and he was wearing sneakers. These were plenty comfortable for him as he rans around all day in them, without noticing. I haven't really tested the waterproofing, but the few puddles he found didn't make it through to his socks.

As geocachers we never know what type of terrain we'll encounter. This is a great low-level hiking boot for the price.Not only has it been worn hiking, but also ATV riding and general play. My son loves them.He generally takes a wide sneaker and these boots fit him great!
