Coats are long outer garments worn over clothes and designed to cover the upper part of the body. Coats are generally made of warm insulating materials such as wool, leather or synthetic fabrics and feature long sleeves and open fronts with a zip or buttoned closure. Coats vary significantly in style and design and may include, but are not limited to; trench coats, rain coats, winter coats, leather jackets and parkas.
Waterproof materials deflect water, and cause the article to not become bogged or soaked with water. Waterproof material is common in outerwear, footwear, and bags.
Windbreakers are lightweight jackets designed to block wind chill and resist light rain in milder weather conditions. Windbreakers are usually made of synthetic, lightweight materials and often feature elastic or fitted cuffs and waistband with stand-up collar and hood.
