On the 22nd of May in 1905, the brand Gola was born. The first pair of handmade football boots was conceived in a small workshop in England. The name Gola comes from an anagram of the word goal. The oldest pair of Gola football boots in existence from this period, are made completely from leather and are on display at Gola's headquarters. About thirty years later, in 1936 the first ad campaign for Gola was launched and appeared on the sides of buses. The brand grew and developed over the years, taking advantage of designing for all types of sports and modern technology. In 2005, Gola's centenary year, Gola became the oldest british sports brand. Today, Gola is a major player in the fashion industry.
