It has been a while since I've worn a boot. I've had some surgery on my foot and my regular shoes did not support as well as they did in the past. Gave the boot a try and I am very happy with it. Just purchased my second pair. Also received a lot of compliments on them.

I've been buying Florsheim Essex boots for over 20 years, but that long run may be over.A new pair bought about a month ago was so ridiculously squeaky that I sent them back (and Shoebuy.com was extremely helpful and understanding with this). My replacement pair was better, but also squeaky. You can't hear them outside or in a noisy area, but in an office environment or home they're plenty annoying.I stuck with Florsheim after they switched from top grain to less durable split leather on their boots, but I'm guessing that whatever place they're made nowadays doesn't have stringent quality controls as in the past, and if it looks like a boot... that's good enough.The Essex still has its classic, cool appearance but the noisiness now makes it a disappointing product.

The Florsheim Essex is a perfect dress boots on the market today.Everything is true to fit and with two hot colors to choose.This boots has a slight elevated ankle due chunky heels (which I like most) but does not make too much noise thanks to the soft padded soles. I bought the burgundy because I like the looks on that color (stylish).Overall it's the best dress boots you can buy for your money.

The shoe was comfortable and well made. My only complaint was the stitching you see on the bottom of the sole you could also see and feel on the inside of the shoe. The shoe box had enough room to put a inner sole in it.
